Despite all the amazing wedding celebrations we’ve been to (and it’s been a lot) having this guy by my side is still my favorite part.

And then there was the moment in the wedding when I busted out my signature interpretive dance moves and fulfilled Abbey’s only request of me for the wedding.

Also, people were kicking off their shoes. I’m not sure if this was “shoe-ing” me off the stage, but I’m going to pretend like they were so entertained that they couldn’t keep their clothing on.

You know that moment when your friend introduces you to the person that he/she is dating and your only response is “of course!”

There’s probably no better feeling in the world than knowing that the people who mean the most to you have found someone who feels like they were hand-crafted just for them.

This past weekend was a celebration of that kind of relationship. A celebration of two people who more than deserve each other, and know how to throw a one hell of a party to demonstrate it.

Here’s to Abbey & Adam - may you always have funny inside jokes and nicknames, take turns in the night cleaning up the dog poop on the carpet and challenge each other to be the best version of yourselves.

I might be a bit late to the grilled pizza game, so my apologies in advance if this post is old news.

But you guys, grilled pizza???

My dear friend Liz & her husband were visiting this weekend. In passing they mentioned grilling pizza — a topic in which I’ve been interested, but never learned or tried.

Here’s the secret — it’s SO easy & there’s no clean-up. Not to mention, it tastes amazing.

Do you need more convincing? I think not.

Here’s the deal:
- Trader Joes fresh pizza dough (take out of bag, roll out in flour, spray with olive oil)
+ hot grill (put the dough down on the direct heat, wait for the dough to bubble)
+ toppings of your choice (flip over the dough, and just right there on the grill, throw on your toppings. Turn off the direct heat, close the lid and let met into a delicious, goey meal)

Voila!

Thank me (or, rather Liz) later.

"in my generation, it was difficult to know that you could take control of your own life. you thought your husband and children were supposed to dictate your life. now i see young women who feel they have to be a total success by 30, which is very different. and both things are equally wrong."

Kitty — did you post this just for me, for my upcoming birthday? Regardless, an important message that I need(ed) to be reminded of.

Chicago friends —

I can’t even begin to tell you what a HUGE win this is for your (already awesome) city.

I’m a huge believer in the idea that good people surround themselves with good people. Said differently, I believe that my friends have good friends - good people to know, have on your side and add to your list of friends.

Two of my best friends, VAF and Kitty are friends that I met through other friends. There’s always a weird moment when people ask how we know one another and I say “I met VAF through some of my friends from college who worked with her, and then she brought her college friend Kitty to a party and we all met” — it makes it all sound very distant, like passing acquaintances.

This group  of girls is no exception to my theory on good people surrounding themselves with other good people. During the wedding celebrations for Kitty a few years back she brought together a dream team of bridesmaids. People from all walks of her life (high school, college, post-college). Zero drama, tons of laughter, minimal regrets.

And this weekend we’re off to celebrate our VAF (on the right - silver and gold dress) and her 30th birthday in NYC. A weekend with little plans (except for food, natch) and a huge expectation for off-the-charts level of wit.

We’re thinking about a trip to Costa Rica this summer. Sometime in late July, perhaps to celebrate our anniversary — the third one seems as good of a time as any.

In the very early stages of planning now, and have heard a few highlights from friends that we’re trying plan for - namely the Saint Teresa area and staying at the Florblanca.

So now, I turn to you Tumblr friends. Have you been? What / where would you recommend? Any ‘can’t-miss’ spots? Or places that we’re worth it (do those even exist there?) Any and all suggestions, advice or dreams are more than welcome
